Pont d’Espagne| The Town | The Pyrenees |
Only 7km from Cauterets by car, or bus, you can explore the famous, breathtaking Pont d’Espagne in the heart of the Pyrenees National Park.
Named after its scenic old stone bridge, stretching high over the foaming gaves (rivers) du Marcadau and du Gaube, this national heritage listed site encompasses an abundance of lush forests and valleys and provides a route across the mountains to Spain.
In summer you can enjoy short walks for all ages and abilities or pack your rucksack and take as many days as you like to go trekking and stay at one of the many mountain refuges. In winter, Pont d’Espagne turns into a magical winter wonderland with over 36km of cross country ski runs descending over 5 circuits, snowshoe and walking tracks and a toboggan slope plus 6km of alpine ski slopes.
